E- RECORDING REQUIREMENTS

The Register of Deeds is responsible for the recording of legal documents pertaining to all real estate in the County.  These include documents such as deeds, mortgages, notice of liens, attachments, plans and any other legal document that has an effect on real estate.

Not only is the Register responsible for the current documents recorded, but also for the access, preservation and protection of all of the records dating back to 1823.

Without accurate records and efficient access to the records ownership could be in question and the ability to buy, sell or finance property would be difficult or impossible and could require court intervention.
