About Us

FRAUD ALERT: The Merrimack County Sheriff's Office has been made aware that our office and Deputies names, as well as surrounding agencies, are being used in a common money scam. In this scam, someone will call and pretend to be an employee of the Sheriff's Office and ask for money with a threat of arrest if the fee is not paid. This call can also appear to be coming from the Merrimack County Sheriff's Office on caller ID due to spoofing techniques used by the scammers.
The Merrimack County Sheriff's Office wants to make it clear that we would never use one of our numbers or employees to solicit money or make demands. If you receive one of these calls, we advise you to hang up immediately and call our office at (603) 796-6600 to verify that a Deputy has called you. If calling your local police department, we recommend looking up the agencies phone number through an independent source, such as their official website.
As always, be cautious of releasing personal information like your social security number or banking information. Another scam to be aware of is anyone who calls and asks for payment in gift cards or crypto-currency. This form of payment typically indicates a scam and would never be asked by a legitimate law enforcement agency.
