Merrimack County Department of Corrections began its Canine Program through a Department of Justice grant in May of 2017 and welcomed K9 Mack, a Belgian Malinois. Through the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) and North American Police Work Dog Association, K9 Mack is certified to find Marijuana, Methamphetamine, Heroin, Cocaine and Smokeless Gun Powder.

K9 Mack and his handler, Erica Cushman, get recertified yearly in narcotics detection and complete maintenance training with the USPCA.
