The hiring process for Group II employees will include at a minimum:

  • written exam;

  • physical agility test;

  • R.E.A.C.T. Entry Level Video Testing (approximately 2.5 hours in length);

  • structured oral interview;

  • psychological and medical exams (after conditional offer of employment);

  • drug test (as part of medical exam);

  • background investigation.

 

The Department will ensure a criminal record check is conducted on all new employees, contractors, and volunteers prior to their assuming duties to identify whether there are criminal convictions that have a specific relationship to job performance.

 

All applicants, regardless of the position applied for, who have been given a conditional offer of employment, will be required to sign a waiver and undergo a background investigation to determine their suitability for work in a corrections environment and position of trust.  This investigation will include at a minimum:

  • criminal record check;
  • motor vehicle conviction check;
  • NCIC/Triple III check;
  • local warrant check;
  • FBI Fingerprint check;
  • personal history questionnaire;
  • primary and secondary reference interviews.

Please note, any Correctional Officer applicant over the age of 45 or who meets other special requirements listed in the PT Consent Form will require a doctor's note authorizing their physical agility test prior to participating in a hiring process.  Please review this form, prior to agreeing to participate.
